What a home inspection does
Damngood’s published inspection scope references the InterNACHI Home Inspection Standards of Practice. They describe a visual inspection of accessible residential systems and the material defects observed at the time of the visit.
Scope includes the roof, exterior, structure, heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical, fireplace, attic, insulation, ventilation, doors, windows and interior, within the standards’ access requirements and exclusions.

An inspection cannot reveal every concealed issue or predict future conditions. It does not determine market value, insurability, repair cost, code compliance or the advisability of a purchase.
Unsafe or inaccessible areas and systems that cannot be operated normally may limit the visit. Environmental testing, engineering and other specialist work require separate consideration.
